Obie (O.B.) – The Olde Dog

Obie (O.B.), the Olde Dodge, had his start long ago in Olde Boston, Massachusetts, but one day he decided to make his fortune in the Midwest. He hitched rides on many wagons until one day he arrived in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Obie (O.B.) roamed the construction site day after day, seeking friends and a home until one day his journey ended tragically with a fall from a high scaffold.

The story goes that Olde Dog’s ghostly image from the past continued to haunt the Olde Boston building. The ghost of Obie (O.B.), the Olde Boston Dog, roamed the building day after for a home—a place where he could finally rest his head and be among friends.

In 2009, after the hammering and construction noises subside, the Olde Boston Restaurant and Pub opened its doors. As Obie (O.B.) looked inside, he knew he had finally found a place among friends, so Obie (O.B.), the Olde Dog, now proudly sits looking down from the wall at Olde Boston’s Restaurant and Pub

Olde Boston's Restaurant & Pub is Fort Dodge's premier dining and night life spot. We pride ourselves on excellent service and high quality food at a very affordable price. If you are planning a group event, we offer in and out-of-house catering. Services provided include preparation of set menus and full bufetts.

Our gameroom across the hall from the restaurant features four Brunswick pool tables, a shuffleboard, and four flat-screen tvs. Ask your bartender for the pucks and pool balls in order to play. Our hourly rate is $6, but make sure you rememeber our free day on Sunday!
